Introduction
Baxi boilers are a household favourite, known for their reliability and efficiency. However, even the best boilers occasionally display error codes, alerting you to potential issues. In this guide, we’ll help you decode these messages, explaining which faults you can resolve yourself and when it’s time to call in a Gas Safe engineer.
DIY-Friendly Error Codes
Baxi error codes can sometimes indicate simple fixes. Here are a few that you might be able to resolve on your own:
- E110 - Overheat
- Action: Ensure radiators are bled of air to improve circulation and prevent overheating.
- E119 - Low Water Pressure
- Action: Repressurize your boiler using the filling loop. Ensure the pressure gauge reads between 1-1.5 bar.
- E125 - Circulation Fault
- Action: Check radiators for trapped air and bleed them if necessary. Monitor the system pressure.
- E133 - Gas Supply Fault
- Action: Ensure the gas supply is turned on. For prepayment meters, check for sufficient credit. If the issue persists, call an engineer.
- E168 - PCB Lockout
- Action: This could be due to a power fluctuation. Try resetting the boiler by turning it off and on again.
When to Call an Engineer
Certain error codes signal more serious issues requiring professional attention. These include:
- E20 - Temperature Sensor Fault
- E28 - Flue Sensor Error
- E160 - Fan Speed Error
- E164 - PCB Error
If you encounter these or any codes not listed under the DIY section, it’s crucial to contact a Gas Safe engineer. Attempting complex repairs without the proper qualifications could be dangerous and invalidate your warranty!
